Alwood Emporium: sculptures about gourmet culture

Alwood Emporium was a store (installed twice in 2011) selling the consumerism and colonialism inherent in “gourmet” culture.  Its première offering, 24 uniquely designed jars, are described in the Specialty Jar Catalogue (PDF) with complementary kitchen essentials.  The Emporium also offered a vintage guide to creating elegant platters from humble fruits and vegetables, and demonstrated the techniques.  The Emporium prided itself on superior customer service by its uniformed, globe-trotting sales staff.
