Last week I finished a long contract with the City of Toronto where I developed information architecture for Solid Waste Management Services.
I developed fundamental models to describe the client’s functions and resource flows, define their common terminology, and structure the concepts in their data. These models were applied to improve data reporting and document management.
Each of the models was delivered as an 11″x17″ colour diagram and a detailed document. I also created videos that walk through each model, as a training tool for future new employees. Using plain language and audio-visual formats makes the fundamental models useful for communications amongst the client’s policy, operations and IT staff.
